Grind-Well, founded by U.S. Army Ranger Veteran and experienced Lineman Rick Sosa, is a leading Electrical Utility Contractor specializing in overhead and underground electrical construction, system upgrades, and 24/7 emergency response.
With over two decades of industry experience, Rick's electrical background has instilled a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and excellence in the company.
Grind-Well offers a range of services, including pole maintenance, streetlight installations, and underground system construction up to 34kV. The company's core values center on quality, efficiency, and safety, with a team of skilled professionals led by Rick's expertise as a former Superintendent.

About the Leadership Team
Rick Sosa
Founder & President
Rick Sosa immigrated to the United States at 15, quickly learning English and becoming a U.S. citizen. After Graduating High School, he joined the US Army at the young age of 17. At just 19 years old, Rick joined the ranks of the 75th Ranger Regiment, serving four combat tours before an injury ended his military career.
Rick then pursued a career as a Union Electrical Lineman, starting as an apprentice with IBEW Local 9 in 2005. He progressed rapidly, becoming a Journeyman Lineman, Foreman, and eventually Superintendent, overseeing multiple departments.
With over two decades in the Electrical-Construction Industry, Rick prioritizes safety, drawing from his military experiences.
He also holds a BS in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and an MSCJ from American Military University.
Hana Sosa
Chief of Staff & Operations
Hana Sosa has a distinguished career spanning law enforcement and firearms training. She served for over 15 years in local and federal law enforcement, including roles as a detective and Federal Air Marshal. Hana became the first female promoted to the Boston Field Office training division.
In 2012, Hana joined Sig Sauer, eventually becoming Director of Training & Special Events. She managed a team of over 100 employees, implementing the company's first Training Division and contributing to $800 million in annual revenue. In 2024, Hana transitioned to the electrical utility industry, joining Grind-Well as Chief of Staff and Operations.
Her goal is to implement strategic safety parameters and business practices to promote growth and elevate the company.
Berenice Morfin
Project Manager
Berenice Morfin, born in Guadalajara, Mexico, immigrated to the United States at age 2 and grew up in Chicago. After excelling in high school as a JROTC cadet, she earned a full scholarship to the Illinois Institute of Technology, completing degrees in Biology and Psychology.
For 13 years, Berenice worked in healthcare at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Lurie Children's Hospital. Following pandemic-related burnout, she pivoted to the Electrical trades, successfully joining IBEW Local 9's Lineman Apprenticeship program as one of only 5 women in her class of 45.
She has since earned multiple certifications, including a Class A CDL, Welding Certifications, and safety credentials.
Josh Neikirk
General Foreman
Josh was introduced to Construction at a young age, working weekends and summers with his stepfather who owned a concrete business.
With nearly 20 years under IBEW Local 9, he has risen through the ranks to become a General Foreman, becoming a certified medium voltage splicer, and working on significant Chicago infrastructure projects.
Josh now shares his expertise as an instructor at the Local 9 training center, passing on his skills to the next generation of tradespeople.
